UU Ministers and Candidates of Color Gather

January 23, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Over 10 years ago a group of 50 UU Ministers and Religious Professionals of Color met for fellowship and support in Los Gatos, CA.  From this meeting, organized in concert with the UUA, DRUUMM was founded.  There has not been a gathering of that size or length since that auspicious meeting in Spring 1997.  After several years of advocating for another gathering (in fact, proposing annual or biannual gatherings), the UUA has responded and is funding a meeting of 50 Ministers and Candidates of Color for this Spring 2007 at the Kellogg Center near Washington DC.  As a Candidate myself, I’m very excited to be in community with fellow seminarians and ministers, many of whom I have grown close to over the five years of my ministerial formation.  Kudos to Identity Based Ministries (a UUA Staff Group) for their organizing of this, and the Office of Racial and Ethnic Concerns.
