In looking at schools for Gabriel this fall, we’ve been researching candidates through the websites. I was amazed to find No Child Left Behind reports linked to their homepages. I read through several and found the ability to see detailed data had a certain comfort and kept me interested in learning more about each school. I am opposed to the No Child Left Behind act for perhaps the most common reasons – lack of funding, bad policy on testing – but must report my apprecation for the presence of the information. It allows for extensive compare and contrast, and tells you enough to give you a picture of the insides of the school. That feature I think is useful, the annual public report of the school in layperson terms. It like an FBI profile on public schools.
