Technology Needs and Poverty Lead to Riot

There has been a lot of talk over the years about the technology gap between rich and poor.  Today in Virginia, where a school district was selling 1000 ibooks for $50, over 5,000 persons waited and some rioted in an attempt to ensure their acquisition of such an affordable piece of hardware.  Microsoft take note please.

  1. Hey Jose: Yeah, kinda reminds me of the several hundred “clergy” out there waiting for the one hundred or so jobs in our churches–sameo, sameo!

    Or there are at least 100,000 of us who could afford to buy a $50 buck computer and give it away, but. . .

    But it seems somewhat ominous about the American mood…

  3. I wonder how many people were really involved in the rioting – out of the 5000 who were there? I’ve already heard/read half a dozen news reports and they all cite the same five or so incidents.
