The first meeting of the 6 week distance-learning seminar for Young Adult & Campus Ministry professionals (UUA) was this evening. We had far more interest than we expected in this new endeavor of the UU Campus Ministry Advisory Committee and the UUA Office of Young Adult & Campus Ministry. An original group of 18 was reduced to 11 and a second seminar (also 6 weeks) starts Oct 17. You can register at www.ConnectUU.com for $20. This evening we kicked off the teleconference with
several rounds of check-ins, with participants from Idaho to Michigan, Connecticut to Pittsburgh present. There are seminarians, congregational staff, and super volunteers in the seminar. Then we welcomed Michael Tino who led us through a discussion of the new Code of Ethics for Young Adult Peer Leaders. It reminds me more and more how critical this document is going to be for the future of our work. It provides an excellent framework for healthy, inspirational and sustainable ministries.
