People of Color in UU Ministry

With the spring comes the inevitable transitions of ministers, both new and old.  UU Enforcer (see full list) is helping track the changes.  I’m excited to see the number of People of Color who are moving into, or changing places, within parish ministry:

San Diego, CA (Assoc)  – Marjorie Bowens-Wheatley
St. Pete, FL – Manish Mishra
Portland, OR – Leela Sinha
Williamsburg, VA – Jennifer Ryu
Garden City, NY – Hope Johnson (Thanks Clyde)

Soon I’ll be sharing parts of my MDIV thesis on a 25 year history of People of Color in Unitarian Universalism.

  1. Marjorie is a called Associate Minister rather than an Assistant. Hope Johnson was called to the church where she was a consulting minister.
